Russian soldier's harrowing last texts to his mum moments before being killed in Ukraine

 Russian soldier

The final text message a soldier sent to his mother before he was killed in Ukraine has shown the horrifying reality of the war in Ukraine.

Ukraine's ambassador read out the horrifying text messages to the United Nations yesterday, February 28.

The soldier wrote via text: "Mom I'm no longer in Crimea. I'm not in training sessions."

His mother replies: "Where are you then? Papa is asking whether I can send you a parcel."

He responds: "What kind of a parcel mama can you send me?"

"What are you talking about? What happened?" his mum asks.

"Mama, I'm in Ukraine," he replies back. "There is a real war raging here. I'm afraid. We are bombing all of the cities together, even targeting civilians.

"We were told that they would welcome us and they are falling under our armoured vehicles, throwing themselves under the wheels and not allowing us to pass.

"They call us fascists. Mama. This is so hard."

The Ukrainian ambassador said that the last message was sent just "moments" before the soldier lost his life.
