The woman who is said to be in her late thirties and identified as Gamze Pehlivan, was stabbed multiple times with a knife in the unfortunate incident that happened at the entrance of the university campus and which had no connection to the school.
According to an eyewitness who was present at the crime scene, the attacker, a Turkish male who was armed with a knife was reportedly seen walking with the victim and another female friend as they were having an argument, before he allegedly grabbed the victim by the neck, stabbed her severally and set her on fire.
He was said to have fled the crime scene in a car as by standers tried to give him a chase before police and medical responses arrived the scene.
Police quickly blocked off the crime scene while paramedics were trying to resuscitate the victim. The victim was rushed to the hospital but was later pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.

According to report, the attacker, 35 was later arrested in Lefkosa.The incident was the second in stabbing to death incident after another woman was allegedly stabbed to death by her husband in Magusa on Tuesday. The couple were from Turkey.
