The Simpsons predicted Trump's victory 16 years ago

In a 2000 episode of popular cartoon, The Simpsons titled Bart To The Future, Donald Trump was president. The iconic cartoon's creator, Matt Groening, said Trump was the most absurd joke name they could think of at that time and that was why his character was featured:
'Trump was of course the most absurd placeholder joke name that we could think of at the time, and that’s still true. It’s beyond satire.'

Dan Greaney, a writer for the Simpsons also said that the clip had a dark message behind it:

'It was a warning to America. That just seemed like the logical last stop before hitting bottom.  It was pitched because it was consistent with the vision of America going insane.’

According to the plot of that episode, Lisa Simpson inherited a tattered economy from President Trump. In the episode she said:
'We’ve inherited quite a budget crunch from President Trump. How bad does it get?' Her staff let her know in graph form that her country is broke due to her predecessor.

The president in waiting also appeared in another episode last year titled Trumptastic Voyage.
