Recall that earlier this month Mayweather, 41, announced his comeback fight the kickboxer at a news conference in Tokyo, but after he was blasted by many he made a dramatic U-Turn and distanced himself from the bout, insisting that he only agreed to a three-round exhibition in front of a small group of wealthy spectators for a very large fee.
Now a statement from Rizin FF CEO Nobuyuki Sakakibara on his Twitter account has confirmed that the December 31 fight will still take place after they resolved their misunderstanding with Floyd Mayweather.
'The misunderstanding with Floyd Mayweather has been resolved,' Sakakibara said in a tweet posted on Friday, alongside a photograph of himself and Mayweather.
'He will fight with Tenshin Nasukawa on New Years Eve for RIZIN 14. I will explain the details once I am back in Japan.'
Sakakibara is expected to hold a news conference on Saturday with more details ahead of the bout.
